Words Are Magic

Why I Write.

--

I secretly believe that words are magic. Call me childish, but I believe it to this day. I remember the wonder when I first read a story, how mere words and simple sentences turned into pictures, feature-length films, epic sagas in my mind.

It’s not about the magic words; all words are magic. A good choice of words is a bon mot, a spell to make you witty and charming. The right word in the right place, mot juste, is not just apropos or rem acu tetigisti; it reveals you as a insightful, charming, knowledgeable fellow.

I know all too well the ruinous catastrophe of saying exactly the wrong word.

This is the end of the story; that’s it. Words are magic, and I truly believe.
